In states across the country, especially Rajasthan In states across the country, especially Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, access to common lands or commons, is essential for local communities. These lands are central to the communities' livelihoods, their security and their dignity.

But commons have been subject to encroachments time and again, by a variety of stakeholders—communities, governments, businesses and more. And resolving these conflicts is never easy, as witnessed by a mounting number of cases in Rajasthan.

To address these conflicts and speed up the resolution process, the Rajasthan High Court ordered the formation of Public Land Protection Cells (PLPCs). So how can these PLPCs actually make a difference to communities that rely on commons? We explore with Pooja Chandran from the Foundation for Ecological Security, and Puspa Sen from Jan Chetna Sansthan, to find out more.

The reality is far from that. Falling fertility rates in India have led to more couples seeking assistance from reproductive experts. What is causing the increasing infertility? Blockchain technology is hailed as the next big re Blockchain technology is hailed as the next big revolution in the tech industry. Its adoption has been fast and widespread so far, with applications ranging from cryptocurrencies to real estate to lending and much more.

But blockchain also has the potential to create and enhance social impact, in many different forms. Transparency, for example, is a huge virtue of this technology and the Telangana government has used this technology as its base to secure and update land records. The state also has aspirations to make Hyderabad, its capital, as the ā€œblockchain capital of the worldā€.

So what exactly is all this noise around blockchain for? How can it help redefine industries? And moreover, how can it be applied for social good? We spoke to Raj Kapoor, founder of the India Blockchain Alliance and a senior advisor to project SEA, to find out.
