Green Bonds: The Next Big Thing in Green Finance
‘Green finance’ is the new buzzword in the finance world. It is also one of the four goals of the forthcoming COP26 discussions at Glasgow, in the United Kingdom. An important part of green finance are ‘green bonds’, which are loans, debts, or investments available to be raised solely for those projects considered green. In this data story, we explore India and the world’s progress with green bonds. Which environmental and climate sectors have been opting for the instrument? How can the green bond market grow more? And, is there a danger of ‘greenwashing’ climate finance?
