Almost every year, there are reports of illegal sand mining activities taking place throughout the country. Some of these clippings make the headlines while others are hidden within the obscure middle pages of newspapers. As an essential material used in construction globally, this resource is highly valuable, adding to the severe implications of the crimes associated with it. The politics and controversies surrounding sand mining are issues that authorities have been grappling with for quite a while. Despite various policies, regulations and frameworks, illegal sand mining continues to happen right under our noses. Why? In this video, we try and answer this question with probable solutions that can alleviate this problem.
