On the 15th of April, the Stranded Workers Action Network (SWAN) released a report detailing the dire situation of migrant workers on the ground. The group surveyed 11,159 workers with an average daily wage of INR 402. Although the Central government had rolled out a number of schemes to alleviate their condition, the report shows that a significant proportion of migrant workers are still under economic distress. With the rate of hunger and distress exceeding the rate of relief for migrant workers and their families, the report brings to light the reality of their situation.
