July marks five years since we launched The Bastio July marks five years since we launched The Bastion out of our uni dorm rooms! We want to use this milestone to extend a big thank you to every reader, writer, and supporter that's been with us at every stage of this journey.

"Making it" in India's new industry was a daunting ask for our young team, but we've had helping hands along the way. Not seen in this picture are over 500 collaborators: development sector professionals, students, academics and researchers who have shared our excitement in answering some of India's most pressing developmental questions. To each one of you (you know who you are!), we'd like to extend a warm hug and gratitude for coming along with us this far.

To our friends and family - who trusted in this journey when it was a dream in our heads - thank you for always having our backs.

Since 2017, we've moved cities, received awards, raised funding, grown our team, ridden legal threats, published over 1000 stories, and launched an Editorial Fellowship for Women - and we're not done yet. To a future of young, free, and independent journalism, with many more stories, ideas and solutions that chronicle India's development journey, in depth. ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼

While these developments by Reliance indicate its strong interest in AI-led solutions, what does this mean for India’s AI market?

One of India’s costliest water supply projects, One of India’s costliest water supply projects, the Narmada Project in Madhya Pradesh is also fraught with inequity: only 54% of the Indore Municipal Corporation’s population receives 171 litres per capita per day through piped water, while 46% are still heavily reliant on standposts, open wells and hand pumps for a small proportion of 46 litres per capita per day. What is causing this inequity, and how do citizens deal with it?

This is Part Two of a series on the Narmada Water Project in Madhya Pradesh.
