Although public health is an intersectoral domain, Although public health is an intersectoral domain, the role of the natural environment in enabling it is often overlooked. Yet, all four types of ecosystem services—be they provisioning, regulating, cultural or supporting—contribute to human wellbeing. Access to ecosystem services is doubly important for communities that lack access to formal or quality healthcare—due to their social, economic or geographic positions—because in such cases, ecosystem services are critical in protecting health and preventing disease.

The Montreal Protocol, one of the earliest international treaties to recognise depleting ozone levels and try and tackle this, was signed on this day. This treaty sought to phase out Ozone Depleting Substances like Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
The treaty was put in place after the 1985 discovery of the 'Antarctic Ozone Hole', by scientists Joe Farman, Brian Gardiner and Jonathan Shanklin.
India ratified and adopted the Montreal Protocol in 1992.

As a citizen, realising your rights can be difficu As a citizen, realising your rights can be difficult, we know. But imagine trying to do so when you haven't yet learned to communicate. On #internationaldayofdemocracy, we ask: who speaks for the care, nutrition, and health of poor children born during the pandemic and their mothers? And what of the rights of the women providing these services?
Tap the link in the bio to hear Members of the Right to Food Campaign — Dipa Sinha (Professor at Ambedkar University), and Dr Vandana Prasad (Founder Secretary, PHRS) — in conversation with @chinnappa_chirag about why raising healthy children is a society's responsibility, and not mothers' alone.

Learning remediation can ensure that India’s stu Learning remediation can ensure that India’s students suffer minimal educational and economic consequences as a result of the pandemic. “Teaching at the Right Level” (TaRL) through Personalised Adaptive Learning (PAL) software is one method that can effectively do so. Here, students are taught based on their actual learning level, not that of the class they are enrolled in.
@kish.word explores the advantages of PAL, and argues for it being a key part of India's post-pandemic learning systems
